How long it will take you get get notified about whether or not you’ll be offered a Census job depends on the actual position that you have applied for, and the specific needs in the area you have applied to work. Another factor that affects how soon you will be notified is that most Local Census Offices will take the top scoring applicants and veterans, and place them first. With projects going on all throughout 2010, it is possible that you may end up waiting for months before you are notified.
Census offices began hiring in February (this month!), although the bulk of the census takers will be starting work in April. Thus, you should begin hearing back from the office some time in March or early April. There are some operations beginning in March, such as covering the transitory locations, however that is a fairly small operation and not many people will be needed for that.
Once you are notified by phone, the next step is to make an appointment with the Census office for an interview. If all goes well, and they do end up hiring you, the next step is to work out the timing for your four days of paid training.
i took the test and scored a 93. should i consider taking it again. and what is the interview process like after your notified. are there things like credit check…fingerprinting…drug testing…second interviews, things of that sort that may take a few days before actual training begins?thankyou
where is the training given for columbia county/upstate N.Y. during the day, everyday??
CC, if it is not too late, I would advise taking the test again. I believe there is a background check, but I do not know specifics. I doubt very much there is a drug test.
Rene, you’ll need to contact your local office to find out that information.
I got 100% on the test and I have no criminal or drug background. Sadly I will probably not be hired if they go by credit check (as is the general trend in hiring nowadays), due to unpaid medical expenses. Credit checks for employment have been a great problem for me in the past. Seems like the elite and wealthy stand a better shot at jobs nowadays. I took the test in January and I have heard nothing so far.
I scored 100% and have 5 point veteran preference, should I expect a call? Also, how do I change my phone number?
Does anyone know what happens after training?
How do we know the results of the second test that we took during our training period?
I heard that they will contact you to give you work but can we call them to know if we passed or not? Thank you
